About Beadon Falls
Beadon Falls is a stunning twin waterfall located near Cherrapunji, often visited alongside the nearby Wei Sawdong Falls. The falls drop into a narrow, deep gorge surrounded by dense subtropical forest. Named after Sir Cecil Beadon, a 19th-century Lieutenant Governor of Bengal, the falls have a colonial-era history that adds to their mystique.
What makes Beadon Falls special is its twin-stream character — two separate streams of water fall side by side into the same gorge, creating a unique visual effect. The surrounding forest is pristine and the area sees very few tourists, making it one of the most peaceful waterfall experiences in Meghalaya.
The falls are best visited during monsoon (June–October) when both streams are at full force. In the dry season, one or both streams may reduce significantly, but the gorge itself remains beautiful and worth visiting.
How to Reach Beadon Falls
Drive from Shillong to Cherrapunji via NH6 — approximately 90 minutes
From Cherrapunji town, head towards Wei Sawdong area (ask locals)
Beadon Falls is near Wei Sawdong Falls — both can be visited together
Short trek of 15–20 minutes through forest to reach the viewpoint
Note: The path to Beadon Falls is not well-signposted. A local guide or Markos's taxi service is strongly recommended.
